Just kicking around an idea ... I just got a 1979 Impala Two Door with a great running 350/350 setup ... but, the car just isn't my thing. I was wondering if this ch***is would be suitable for a body swap to something much older ... say a late 40's or early 50's car body? Or would it just be more prudent to pull the motor, trans and rear and other parts and just use them in a project?
Frame swaps like that are WAY more work than people realize. Just save the drivetrain and put it into an old car's ch***is.
'55 - '57 Chevy has the same wheelbase. But you have to use the late-model floorpan. Lots of cutting & welding. But it has been done. And all the HD cop-car and Impala SS suspension pieces will fit your car. The '77 - '96 B-body ch***is are all basically the same.
Why would you want to use a 30 year old ch***is in anything? It is a huge amount of work with little or nothing to gain.
Yeah, after checking into it more deeply I see that it's not really worth it. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.
