f100 front beam axle

    hi
    iam having some trouble with lowering my f100 1956 truck
    all stock six pot engine
    we have fitted the beam but the steering arms (stubs)
    will not go into the beam axle they are to big
    are there different axle sizes ?
    any help would be great

    You might just have to press it in. There are different sizes. I bought a lowered I beam axle for my '63, it didn't fit. The guy was cool enough to return my cash.

    I'm guessing you've put in a dropped axle, & it sounds like your king pins are to big for the axle.
    The earlier F-1 axles look about the same but use a smaller king pin.
    Could it be you have an F-1 axle, & this is your problem ?
    If this is the problem, & parts are hard to come by in the UK, you could use the smaller F-1 king pins & make special bushings for the F-100 spindles. That should get things back together.
    I've actually seen where they have pressed the F-1 bushings into the F-100 bushings, & made things work.

    The 48-52 F-1 kingpins are .8125 dia The 53-64 F100 kingpins are .859 dia. Are you sure you don't have .10 over kingpins. What's the number on your kingpin set?
