The only difference in the frames is the front crossmember is further ahead on the Merc

What a score. Will you keep the frame the roof was on? Is it salvageable?

Surface rust is best removed with 100's of rol-loc 40 grit 2" discs and lots of 80 grit. I prefer not to sandblast or chemically remove due to the problems outlined above. I do use a conversion chemical (Rust-Mort) to kill any residual rust. Lacquer is a possibility, I have a lot of it still....

the flower car was sold to a funeral home back east, cool old car.

  12. Okay, so here's another cool custom build I've subscribed to!! :p

I hope some history comes to light ..then again, now you can build it the way you want without any debate! Great find!

Very cool old car! So that car was sitting on CL for a while? I'm glad I didn't see it! ha ha.

Looks like it is in capable hands now, and that you'll do the car justice. Good work!

Cool score. Does the left rear fender have conduit welded to the lip? And the right rear doesn't?

Not even conduit, it's copper pipe brazed on! Part of the horrible frame swap......
