Hi guys, Any body have a 53-54 Chevy body on a rotisserie or off the frame? Im starting to assemble my coupe, The body is at the body shop and they locked up for 10 days for hunting. I would be very thank full if some one could lay a tape across the bottom and tell me the distance between inner to inner wheel wells and then from the outer to outer wheel wells. It's hard to put into words, but Im ready to weld up the rear four bar and put wheels and tires on it,and I would like to make a templet like a go no go gauge and It's starting to get a bit cool out. Thanks for any help, and I know it's a stupid problem to have but it is what it is. Once again thanks in advance Randy
115" wheelbase. Measure from the front to the rear. EDIT: Sorry I miss understood the question. Sent via Illinois Bell Telephone Company's Car Radiotelephone
This answers a question not asked. The question is the dimensions side to side, at the rear, of the body width at: a) the inner fender well, and: b) at the inside of the outer fenders.
Thanks Hnstray, for finding a better way to explain what I need. If some one said it's 51" between the insides and 65" to the outsides that's all I need. maybe some one can tell me if 225/55/17x7 will fit?
What are the chances I would have my 54 Sedan Delivery on jack stands in my shop doing my exhaust...when I came in for a sandwich and saw your request. I believe the Delivery body's have the same wheel well dimensions as do the cars. I had a 2 door for 14 years that I just sold recently, and it looked the same. Inside to inside is 47 1/4", which is actually from outside frame edge (the lip) to outside frame edge. The inner wells sit on top of the lip, just inside a little, so it's the frame your tires will see first. I taped a piece of string with a washer (makeshift plumbob) to the inside of both outer wells about 2"-3" up from the arch. That measured 72" exactly on mine. However, the outer well starts to slowly curve inward from a little further up, so you'll want to keep that in mind. I have 265/50/16's on 8" rims centered in my rear wells with about an inch to spare either side. Now, whether your 225/55/17x7 will fit is gonna depend on other factors you didn't mention.
Thanks alot 270 thats what I needed. The # u came up with for the frame is right on with mine so I think there the same.My wheels are 17x7 with 4"BS.With all the #'s pluged in my tires are only 2 3/4 away from the frame so I should be good to go. Once again Thanks Randy
