Ok, this is probably dumb, but I don't know the answer.

I had a stainless braid hose berween my fuel tank and the fitting that p***es through the trunk floor to the fuel filter. I was tightened with those hose clamps that look like an fittings-then with two hose clamps because it wouldn't stop leaking.

Now I have given up and decided to go with real braided fuel line hose with AN fittings. However, I've got br*** NPT fittings on the tank and the bulkhead fitting that I need to attach the fuel line to. So, fixed at either end with a 2' run of hose-how do I attach the AN fittings to the existing fittings and tighten both ends up?

Having some trouble trying to visualize what you're saying but an AN to AN line, whether a solid line, braided or just push fit will, or should have fittings that swivel at each end. The beauty of AN fittings is that you install adapters to get you from whatever (eg npt) the AN at each end so you can simply run an AN line between.

Sounds kinda difficult but is in fact quite simple.

    Cheers

Some pics might help, Aeroquip, Earls, Fragola all have NPT to AN fittings then you'll have to determine what angle fittings needed to hook everything up. You probably need -6 hose and fittings.

If I am understanding your question, the answer is that the AN fittings swivel, allowing you to tighten them independently without turning the hose itself. It's not like plumbing gas or water lines in the house where you have to use a union fitting to make some connections. Think of it like the fittings on the end of a garden hose.

Right. Thanks. That's what I need to know. I haven't checked out the Summit site yet, because my wife one a $100 gift card from Speedway so I thought I'd see that first.

I'll put up a picture tomorrow.

So I see pictures of the fittings-but, do they come with the second part that tightens it all together-ie is each piece offered really a 2 piece set?

***uming that your tank and the bulkhead fitting have female pipe threads, you would need a fitting for each in the appropriate size like these

the end with the pipe threads goes into the tank and bulkhead. Then you will need a length of hose, probably -8 size, with one of these fittings installed on each end:

the red end is installed on the hose, and then the blue end tightens onto the fittings that you installed on the tank and bulkhead. these fittings swivel in the center to allow for tightening. Also, it is important that you you purchase and use the fittings in the first picture because the AN fittings use a 37 degree taper and cannot be mixed with standard 45 degree pipe fittings. If the fittings on your tank and/or bulkhead are male, then you will just need a simple adapter like this:

    to install these:

Braided hose looks great until dirt and oil get into the braids and then you can't get it clean.

I have discovered that there is a crack in the nose of the br*** fitting at the bulkhead/floor. Not sure when this occurred-it seems to be wonky after we'd disconnected the fuel lines to paint the car and put it back together. It was originally braided line and Spectre Magna-clamps-but it seemed to work okay. Until it didn't.
