    Hey Guys.

I have a 324 Olds in my Roadster project with an OFFY starter swap adapter to the pass side.

I am hearing and reading all different starter solutions for this application...example, Chev 6 Cylinder Starters, Early Cad Starters etc...

Anyone have experience that can suggest the solution that will work?

I would like to purchase the correct starter this week.

One of our High torque starters bolts directly on without any modifications....just need to know which flywheel you have....145 or 176 tooth

If you're stubborn and dead set on using an old starter (like I am), you can either recess the oil pan for clearance or modify the solenoid mount and just use the stock starter.

50 years ago I used the stock starter on a 303 Olds in a 46 Ford coupe. Worked fine even with 6Volt battery in trunk.

I found a right side nose cone from I think a buick and made it work on my stock starter. Gary

I repositioned the solenoid on my original 324 starter, drilled and tapped
new mounting holes and fabricated a kind of "on the side" link to the gear
lever. It's not too clever but it works with the stock starter upside down.
Hope the pic's may be helpful.

I did the same as everyone else, using the stock starter...relocated the solenoid , cut and rewelded the linkage between the solenoid and bendix drive.. I pI also had to open up the window in the nose of the starter in order for the bendix to fully engage the flywheel.. Works like a charm.... You'll also need to run a remote oil filter...
