Technical '40 Ford Hood

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by oneoldpinstriper, Nov 20, 2013.

  1. I am building a '40 Ford Pickup. It came with a '41 hood. Does any know if it is a fit to the '40? It looks okay but I am missing a grill so I am concerned about fit.

    Thanks

If the hood is a 41 Pickup hood, yes it will bolt right up to your hinges and fit right down the sides and at the front. The difference may be in the understructure up front as some 41s had 6 cylinder engines and the radiator mount and latch was moved forward.

  3. Thank you very much...I will now be able to sleep again:)

40 and 41 pickups both used a standard 40 passenger grille. Only difference (on the outside) of the hoods is the trim.

The 41 has the wider trim down the front, so you may have to weld up a couple of holes from that.
