I am building a late flathead and have a set of nice connecting rods. I've looked on the internet with no success on how to rebuild them. Is it as simple as putting in new bushings or do they need to be machined at all. Thanks

Take them to a GOOD machine shop. They will check them for straightness, check and resize the big ends as necessary and replace the small end bushings if necessary.
Here (in Northern Cal) it's about $ 12.00 to $ 15.00 per rod

I haven't verified this but I've been told that NOS French flathead rods are just about the same price as rebuilt rods.
It might be worth looking into.

yup, a set of brand new french rods is hardly any dearer than resizing/rebushing/straightening/weightmatching used ones.

SF Flatheads has hundreds of them, and if I remember they are around 200 a set? cheap.
