I have a 327 I just acquired, I would like for the 327 gurus to help enlighten me on what I have. I have used the search function and did find out it is indeed a 327 and from what I have read it is a 1965. But the rest is over my head. Here are the numbers # on rear of block drivers side-3782870. Stamping at rear of block behind distributor-E55. Stamping on front ledge p***enger side-F05I4HA. Plans are to try to put it back original if its desirable.
    Thank you for the help

Been there and read that earlier. That's where I came up with 62-67 car-truck two bolt and it was 65 year. Thanks for the link though.

    Looks like HA (in 65) was a 275 hp 327 / 4 speed.

Thanks, wasn't sure if the front stamping was a form of identification. Is it safe to say that hopping it up a little wouldn't hurt the vintage factor?

The front stamping tells you the engine factory (F is Flint MI), the date the engine was ***embled (May 14th) and the application (HA is full size Chevy with a 327 250 HP manual transmission). The date is not there, but you gave that with the casting date from the rear of the block E 5 5 is May 5th, 1965 (my fourth birthday).
