Jerryrolls&pleats. Sweet and thanks!!!! The picture looks great. I can't wait to pick up a copy. I think that is the first mag she has been in.

Pretty sure I saw it in Kustoms Illustrated too. Love it! But I'm biased. One of these is my next project.

54delray, I just saw that today. I am pumped! Those two are my favorite magazines. If the car was to be in print I couldn't have asked for better quality mags.

did you have clearance issues with your exhaust on the drivers side due to the steering box? im putting a 350 chev in my 52 buick super at the moment just looking for different ideas for manifolds/ headers, thanks. great looking car.

warren87. Yes I had 4 different manifolds / headers and tried to find one that fit the best. I also trimmed an little on the brackets on the steering box. I did find one that worked but I have no clue what it was off of. But now I took the steering box off. And put in a 87 chevy caviler rack and pinion in her. It pushed and pulled the right amount and it wasn't powered. Now it drives like a new car. That is one of the best things I did to the car.

Got to say I was not at all convinced when you started this project. But I will say this you did a hell of a good job, nice car!!
Did you have any problems with the hood fit to the fenders like most 53's? If so how did you deal with it?

trickrick, well thanks. Fitting that hood was HELL. It took a whole day and 5 guys. I just took my time and we adjusted and bent the hood hinges for hours until we got a fit we were happy with. There is no trick just trial and error

You should have given that straight 8 a chance to make ya happy. 8 in a row will make it go!!! I have a passion for those old straight 8's. Great looking car.

I love everything except for the 350. Shudda put a nailhead in it. But it's your car, not mine. Gotta love those 50's Buicks.

Such a badass buick... I've been working on my 53' super for about 4 months now; this thread definitely motivates me to get my ass back in the garage. I hope to see your car in person, please make sure to post the shows you'll be at. I usually make it out to many SoCal & Norcal shows. Again, SWEET Ride!

That's the best looking 53 Buick I have ever seen. Back in the 60's I had one exactly like it, color and all. Yes, we all hear this.
You asked all thru your build for suggestions. First I hated to see the port holes go. But the end result was worth it. Besides it leaves many wondering what kind of car it is now. I also would like to have seen the old Buick engine remain and detailed. But odds are I would also have gone the SBC route.
Which leaves only one suggestion. Sign that tilte over to Model T1.
Great build and great eye for custom work. Even the colors are amazing.

I have a 53 Buick hardtop, and I'm wondering where you bolted the 87 cav. Rack and pinion too. And did u get rid of your front drums? Thanks in advance. Love the car motivates me to work harder on my own.

The car is awsome. I just want to know why this thread was removed from the traditional custom's forum. If this isn't a traditional custom I don't know what is.

  27. dirtynapkin, I too would like to know/see the rack and pinon mounting. I want to do that on my '50.
    Very nicely done custom!

That car is sweet! Just found one yesterday seven miles from my house and thought man that would make a sweet kustom I may have to go pick it up.

Holy cow I didn't know there were so many posts without my response. So sorry life gigot in my way and I haven't been able to get on here.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. Sorry no nailhead. I really went the safe route because I do enjoy driving her every where. And I had the motor sitting in my garage.

I will put it on a lift and take some pics of the rack next week. So hopefully that helps everyone out. Everything else is stock. I plated the bottom A arms and opened up the spring pockets so the bags wouldn't rub. Stock drums.

Thanks again guys I can't wait to start on my 40 Buick. Coming soon.
