This weekend I tear her down to paint the frame and the motor.. brake lines are finished. Bear claws are in and the body is painted.. Even mounted the gauges. I'm so close it's driving me nuts.. I can't wait to get this scarey little coupe on the road...
Looking good! GDammit, just when I'm thinking of getting rid of my 27 coupe project someone shows me how cool they are
motor=chevy 350.. gonna run it with a holley for a while but eventually going 3 strombergs... Not gonna chop it for now.. I spent alot of time screwing with wheel base, rake and tire size to make it look cool unchopped. it's hard making the proportions work on an unchopped t.. the length and the huge rear tires really help. ... but i have been considering it here lately... seen too many evil looking chopped t's.. i made the mistake of photochopping it and it really looked cool.. but again I'm leaving it as-is for now.
she's channeled 5" all around.. the subrails are made out of 1x3x16ga with a 16 ga floor: here is what it looks like together underneath:
Coupe looks great! Nice to see another one close to getting done. I'm so used to seeing them chopped, yours looks custom being unchopped, but I like it uncut. Get-r-done!
Looking good!!!!! Don't chop it, be different (isn't that in part what it is about). Seems like all ya see now are hammered coupes. A stock lid is nice the way you did it. Doesn't look like a belly button chopped T.
thanks for the feedback on keeping her tall... it is true that everybody imediately chops thes things... then you have a car like mercury charlies that just looked so cool and different being unchopped.. Some of the earlier pics of that car when it was running a big www slick and was still kind of dirty were just killer... I think my car will have similar proportions so it should look killer too... i think my top just got a permanent stay of execution! I should have some updated pics toward end of next weeks... maybe even the body reunited with the frame!
Ive been building one for the past two years, chopped, channeled, tripower 302 with lakes headers, 8 inch ford rear, suicide front end soon be changed to dropped axle under radiator and "imitation" 32 frame horns. I probably have about 3 grand in it and will have around 5 before it hits the road (hopefully before next fall). I will try to post pics later. How have you guys been covering that (little ) hole in the roof? I've got an idea for how I'll do mine, but I'd like to see others before a start. rjb
