Spent the weekend in Charlotte at the Goodguys show. Overall it was an enjoyable weekend. Friday was bigger then last year and the weather was cool but sunny... , only one or two disappointments (time in line to get on the track and the cars in the Suede and Chrome section.. plus lack of room. I could not get my car into the area if I had tried...). There was not alot of traditional rides but the ones there were cool, some really nice hi-tech muscle cars and pickups that caught my attention.. Meet several HAMBers like ABomb and Bloodknuckles (missed the 10:30am meet and greet as I was across the field when I realized the time....) and spent most of the weekend hanging with Sadan and his better-half... and a few other kats from SC. Seen Kirk only one time as he must have been super busy shoot cars for future coverage.... Here is the link to my photos and three examples. Charlotte Goodguys coverage
Yes, yes the Orange '55 was awesome...... My camera was being a ***** yesterday so I didn't get any, but I solved that problem.... Thanks... and that Stude truck damn... very cool....
Went up Friday as I had to earn my wages the rest of this weekend. Beautiful weather!!! Had a great time. Agreed, traditional rides were in short supply but there were plenty of neat cars besides the megabuck specials. Need to get my 35mm film processed (and put on CD) and will post what I saw. Found a few good deals on some stuff I needed. Hope to get my car there next year!
I had more photos but for some reason almost all my pics of black cars came out over exposed. Not sure what happened since it was on 'point and shoot' mode...
Greg Porters '55. A real old piece of racing. He really races this car. He broke the driveline while running it several weeks ago. Driveshaft yoke broke and took part of the floor right outa' it . I sold him an old cast iron Ansen NHRA Approved bell housing to go in there to help with the rebuild. He wants to keep it "period correct" . .
Boones, sorry I missed you. Nice pics- our taste in cars is similar. We had a great time- 869 miles round-trip in 48 hours with my wife and two kids, ages 4 & 8. Got to meet a colorful bunch of characters-Kirk!, Murph, Butch11443, A-Bomb, Nailhead Buick, and Orange Crate. Spoke to 27pickemup later and took a pic of 34 5-window's and 32 Flamed Coupe's cars:
My kids entered their "Mom's Hand-me-Down"; an early '60's Murray Lancer Wagon, in the pedal car contest and took the "Best Modified" award. It's the one with the satin paint, red steelies, and Mexican blanket upholstery
It was real nice meeting you Gary. Thanks for posting your pics. Later in the day, you got within about 100' of my car. I waved, but was too damn lazy to get off my **** and chase you down. LOL Glad to hear you and the family enjoyed the show (and hopefully the roadtrip). Did you hit the track Saturday night? You can read about my family's experience HERE. Hope to catch you at the next east coast event. -murph
Thanks for sharing the pics!! The '55 is unreal, the more I look at it the more details you see. I hope someone shoots the car for a feature, because I like to read more about the build. Anybody know what is the chrome on the side of the Merc?? Happy Trails, Mick
I am sure Kirk took some good pics of Porter's 55.... As for the Merc.. I think lo sadan knows. he talked to the guy.. It was a really clean trim job...
