I have a set of 14" wheels that someone gave me, I took the tires off to store them and noticed a sticker that said Kelsey-hayes. The wheels were on a '64 Corvair that was raced in the '60s... 4 lug, not sure how wide they are. Just surprised to see a sticker on this old of stuff that was still there... Is it anything special or just another steel wheel?
Near worthless, as Corvair people are as cheap as VW people Kelsey Hayes name on a sticker, is nothing more than an wheel manufacturer, to OEM as well as some aftermarket sources. At one time, there was a good market for spare wheels for snow tires, or could be a wider version for a later Corvair, and these could be what you have.
stock on a corvair is 13", these are 14", I think theres other cars with the same 4 lug. But I dont know
So, are you a Corvair or VW aircooled guy? I am king of "cheap" . If I told you the total cash in my VW T3 for the last 7 years as my only primary car...you would call me a liar Now it is close to breaking in half, from the nasty road de-icer formula that we got a few years ago. The car "might" not last my lifetime like I thought
F&J I'm a Covair, i paid more for it than it was worth at the time, because it was my brothers last toy before he p***ed. He was a little crazy , it's a 65 with a mid engine conversion kit, and ah 396 in the back seat , being that it is so low and mid engine it stays glued to the road. It's a little hot and loud but it's fun as hell to drive. ----------jack AKA the olderchild( love the smell of tire smoke don't ya)
MGBs are also 4 x 4 1/2" bolt pattern, and came with 14" wheels. Check with those guys to see if someone wants wider steelies. Cheers, Stewart.
I have a 63 nova and I pretty sure that they are the exact same lug pattern as the corvair and some people keep the four lug rims on them you have if you want to run the SS hubcaps so that could be a place to start
You are ***ociating "Kelsey-Hayes" with hundreds of references to the chrome wire wheels they made in the '50s and to the painted spoke wheels they made made for Ford in the '30s. K-H made wheels --- all kinds --- including thousands of specific styles in stamped steel for production cars, like those you have for Corvair. No big deal whatsoever.
Alright. I just had heard that people were looking for K-H wheels, didnt know if it was just the brand or what. Thanks for all the info guys!
