We have worked on our car for 2 yrs and glory be its almost ready for the road. Our 48 aerosedan has a Heidt front kit that has never been out for a drive on the road. All of the rubbers are dry rotting. Has anyone else had this problem. The kit was new from a Heigts dealer. It took a lot of hard work to get this installed and I don,t want to have to take it apart already to replace all the rubber units. I e-mailed Heidt to see what they could do. I guess I will need to replace them and now is better than latter.

Makes me wonder how long the dealer had the parts. I have a Heidt front end under my car and have had no problems. My friend has used several and no problems there either.

You don't really have a choice. The rubber needs to be replaced. What did Heights say?

My thoughts too---I have a Heidts Must 2 and it's been on board since '04.

Heidts wants to see pictures. said rubber will rot if not lubed and moving. They were lubed and greased.

Then they are not "dry rotting" dry signifies they are just that, dry.

Dry rotted rubber is deteriorating from the rubber literally drying out and cracking etc.

If they were lubed and greased, depending on what was used on them that could be the source of the problem.

Some greases or lubricants will attack and destroy rubber.
