What is the width of your axle? HRP

Axle width is not really how to measure for a spring .. Subtract 5" from your spring perch holes measurement to get what spring you need.. In your case you need a 31 1/2" spring although 31" or 31 1/4 " will do fine.. If you have a Speedway catalog there is good information on how to measure and set up you front suspension...

Using axle width for spring measurement only works with aftermarket axles.. If by chance you're using a stock axle that originally was a spring in front like 1935-48 and you want to use it with a spring on top axle, width will NOT work because different years had different perch measurements.. Obviously you always used an aftermarket axle...

I don't want to argue but there are 50 1/2" stock axles with different perch hole measurements thus axle width does not tell you which spring to use, only perch hole widths do...

Excuse the hell outta me,,I am not going to argue with you since you are obviously far more informed than I. HRP

  9. Width between perch pin holes is all that matters.
Or between what ever mounts you'll be using, batwings welded on to a tube, spring behind hanging off the bones.

For the life of me and with all my being I can't see why the OA width would have any bearing on determining the spring you might need.
