here are some clips I posted on the net from back in 1992 when a group of us from the old ESTA (Eastern States Timing ***ociation) got together at a small air strip in the pocono mountains for the 1st and last tire smoke nationals. It was a test & tune and practice for smoke runs at nostalgia events. It was good because there was no protocall or time limit to make runs & there was no traction, so smoke was easy. we had a couple blown rails, a few injected rails, a few inline dragsters & altereds & some cool cars , but I tried to weed it down tot he best smoke runs. sorry for the picture quality but it's 21 year old video tape

FYI- it was illigal by FAA standards to do this ,back then & now! so stay off those runways!

glad you liked it. That was back when they (NHRA) let you run "original" rails down the 1/4 mile smoken the hides if you could ,you'd have to line up out in the marbles on the outer edge of the track to get out of the groove to try to break tracton & smoke + wiping the tires with some water helped out they (NHRA) didn't like that to much?
it all came to an end around 1995 when the powers that be said "no more original pipe on my (NHRA)insured tracks" all cars had to me spec & p*** tech so we parked them. now 21 years later......we can "crackle them" Whoppi!
