I was reading an article in an old Rod N Custom little book about Alvin Serpa's 47 ford convertible that Gene Winfield chopped and in it they show a locking push ****on installed in the door stainless. Does anyone know what they sourced them from or where I could find them now? I want to use the same on my 46 business coupe custom. Thanks Matt
There were some door lock push ****ons in the handles of either a late 50's or early 60's car or truck that had the lock in the push****on but I can't remember which one. I'd imagine that was what they used with it removed from the handle and in a fabricated sleeve. Or make your own using something like this. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Prime-Li...i_kw=&ci_gpa=pla&ci_src=17588969#.Un6SVXDBMrU I thought that the locking push****ons sounded familiar http://www.ebay.com/itm/1952-1953-1...Parts_Accessories&hash=item43c151b50c&vxp=mtr It looks like you can find the locking push****ons on 52 to 66 Chevy trucks but the later ones would have a matched pair as up through 54 didn't have a keyed outside lock on the driver's door. You would still have to fabricate a sleeve to fit the push****on in and figure out how to make it work.
Some times they used the locking push ****ons from glove box doors. Was small enough that it would fit in narrow trim strips.
Why not use a electronic key-fob hidden in your pocket. Just make sure that you have some lugs from your car battery accesable incase of dead battery
How do you modify one of these latches for use a door ****on. As for the remotes, I'm trying to keep build all traditional. Matt
You push the ****on , the arm grounds on the inner body panel completing the circuit. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I planned on using a starter ****on for my doors on the -40 Mercury and place it right under the running board. Or don't you think it will work with the door solenoids in the same way as the home made glovebox device above? For the record, I'm no electrician...
Ooops, sorry. Missed the HEADLINING word. Must be blind. Didn't actually think of the lock function when watching the Lopez push ****on. I'll get the correct one!
