This actually happened back in June, but I'm just getting around to sharing it. It's a 330 DeSoto tall deck. This was a family affair...dad with the timing light, and my son with the video camera. He edited down to a short video so it wouldn't get boring:D

My son and I have been building this car for about 4 1/2 years now. Getting close.:)

The car is now torn completely apart for paint and powder coating, so shortly I'll have some final assembly pictures to post.

Cool man, but a 14 second tease?! Tell him to edit it to a couple of minutes so we can soak up the vibes.

Thanks! After this footage, we went through the camshaft break-in,then tuned some more so it idles real nice ( 3/4 race cam). It sounded much better after more tuning.

It's funny....4 1/2 years getting to this point, and then three days later it's scattered all over the shop, the basement, and the shed:eek:.

Hearing it run was very motivating.

    Thanks,Choff.

The best part is, Since we haven't had a vacation in quite a while, I gave my wife the choice between an eight day cruise to the Bahamas or a road trip to the L.A. Roadster show next year. She made the right choice, so we'll be driving this car to L.A. in June:D

It will be my first trip out there, and I can't wait. We'll be traveling with a large group of friends from mostly the Cincinnati area, most of which made the trip in 2007,so at least we won't be totally on our own.

  12. Congrats on the fire up but why do you start it in gear ?

  13. Looking good! Hope to hear mine come to life, one day.

Is that an HHH intake manifold?

I started it in neutral and immediately put it in gear.I didn't have brakes working yet when we did this. It does have a neutral safety switch. I ran it through all the gears just to fill the converter (Glide) and make sure everything worked correctly.

I don't know what an HHH manifold is, but mine is an original 2v intake that I cut the top out of and made a 4v out of it.

Finally got some paint on the body. Finished shooting the clear at 1:00 AM. It's Thorne Brown with black accents, an original Model A color. I am sooo tired of block sanding and masking. All the small parts are done too. All that still needs paint is the frame and the rearend housing.

Thanks guys. I'm shooting for having it on the road in early April. I need to get some miles on it before we take off for L.A.R.S. Going to the upholstery shop next week.

The rails are a one-off design for 28-29 bodies. No sub rail modifications needed.

Thanks Malcolm. I can only hope it will be as cool as your roadster when I get it back together.

I don't know why my pictures show up twice when I post using the iphone app.? Weird.
