I am getting ready to chop a 50' plymouth P-19 and Air Bag it, if anyone has ever done this or knows anyone who has I would love to hear about it before I destroy this sweet one owner.
If you have never chopped a car I would recommend finding a pro to do the job. It looks a lot easier than it is and can destroy a real nice car.
thats also gonna be a kinda complex chop as it should get cut all the way past the trunk, like a fleet line
Looks like you scored a very clean car. Perhaps a 2 inch section with stock roof or very mild chop.................
Here's more pics. It reminds me of a VW bug from the rear. It needs a chop and air bags. If anyone has air bagged one of these old plymouth please let me know what I need.
If you section it, it will look like a 1 1/2 scale old Volvo. Posted using a number two pencil on a paper napkin.
I have the same car and was looking into chopping it, and after looking it over good and measuring it, it would be more trouble than it was worth. As others have said section it is the best option. I was going to bag mine also but went with the lowered pocket in the front control arms and the aerostar springs and it sits right that way, the back i just used blocks.
What lowering kit did you use? How many inch blocks? Who makes the coils for the front? I think everyone is right, I will leave it alone and just seal the Patina "as is".
First you need to relocate the shocks to outside of the springs, kits are available or you can make your own, not that hard. Next you pull the springs and take the lower control arm and take the rivets out that hold the spring plate on and flip it from the top to the bottom of the control arm. The springs are off a ford aerostar van.
Rodhotz: Thank you! My next question is, what is the easiest way to remove the lower A arms? Is it the 4 bolt on the bottom of the lower A arm?
