Hi guys, probably a stupid question but I am very new to this. Is ther an easy or preferred way of removing bondo? I have a 49 Chevy coupe that someone tried fixing a dent in the rear quarter on. They just buttered bondo on it and didn't do a nice job, how do I get it off/out? DA? Sandblast? stripper of some sort?

Use a propane torch...heat it, from the backside if possible...if not at the front will work...use a scraper or a screwdriver...it'll come off easily!

I second the torch. It'll burn and stink like hell, but it flakes right off with minor effort.

ditto on what they said, but use one of those heavy duty gasket scrapers if you have one, they work bitchin'.....

You can buy the little propane torches at a hardware store for like $15 if you don't have one.

a 5" disk grinder would work fine if you don't want to play with fire. Just don't grind on the steel too much, just enough to take the filler off.

Don't use a DA, you'll be at it forever.

Paint stripper will soften up bondo, but only a 16th inch thickness or so. If you had a super large area with a super thin coat of mud on it, paint stripper would work, but usually that's not the case.

Grind it out, if you have a regular size grinder it works just fine just a bit dusty.

If it's a big enough dent with enough thick bondo, you can just smack the backside with a hammer and it'll crack off.

if you cant get behind it to use the torch a twisted wire brush cup on a angle grinder will take it out pretty quick with out disturbing the metal.

grind that shit out, either a D/A or a grinding disc it wont take long, don't use a torch, i you do that you might warp the metal.

I used one of these multi-strippers on a huge wad of bondo that was on my truck's door when I got it.
    Worked really well for me.

torch. mind the heat though warpage is possible. If you heat the filler it is slower but will not warp as easliy.

A few months on the fine, fine roads here in downtown Seattle knocked out all the bondo on the lower quarters of my 53 Ford. In places where I didn't even know there was bondo! Our roads Suck, But we got two new sports stadiums..
