I'm looking at getting an F6 truck, mainly for the good engine and maybe the steering box and small parts. Are the F series cabs fairly close to each other? Would this cab be worth something to a guy building a smaller truck? I know the big trucks generally don't go for much. I'm not looking for a what's it worth deal but rather would it be useable. Its a 1949 too.
Body's are the same along with grill hood and inner part of front fenders. Outer section of fenders are similar just have giant wheel openings.
I have wonderd why a guy couldnt use 1/2 ton axles "and springs" if needed etc. with the rear scooted forward under these older bigger trucks using the same frame to make a cool more appropriate size hot rod. Ive done a smaller 56 f 250 and a 55 chevy 3600 but they already had the same size front fenders I needed, I just had to get a bed for em since they both previously had flats to start with and were long wheel base anyway ...or you could make a monster like this f6
Low budget, I have always thought the same thing. I wanted to build one with the rear axle moved forward and a big m*ther f**kin stepside bed. It would just look like a giant pickup. I'm more interested in the engine and small parts of this one and I may be trading a motorcycle I don't want anyhow for it. If I do get it the cab will be in the cl***ifieds for cheap.
I had a 53 f1 that the p.o.claimed to have put a steering box from a 2-ton on . The truck was all stock & drove & steered like a new truck
