I am looking for another wiring harness for my 1939 Ford, building a street rod.I bought it back in September from an old lady, was her late husband's and stored in the garage for 20 years.I got lucky, the parts were all there.I pull out the wiring harness during dis***embly and recieved a huge surprise, not in great shape.I found so many shorts, places where rodents chewed on.I am not fixing this harness, not taking a risk of a fire which will happen.Had a flathead and I sold that getting my money back for money for this project.I am going to build a 434 small block chevy for it.I have found a wiring harness from painless and been told this one is a piece of cake to install. My dad said there is American Auto wire too which to check out too.
American has a great set up. Can get pricey. Painless is Pricey and is confusing for me. Also I don't like the small diameter wire they give you. Rebel is very fair in price and since your doing a street rod I would use theirs. Their on here and quick to help you. These are my opinions only and I have no stock in either company.
I know a customer that has a painless wiring harness brand new in the box for a 1939 Ford.We are talking a trade,I have a 351 Ford block and heads, crankshaft I don't have a use for the trade he wants. He was going to use it and I will be getting it.I priced it,it was not a bad price.I have to wire it for a 700R4 also I am using for the transmission
I've used almost all the wiring kits that are currently available on the market and from my personal perspective the Painless kit should be called PITA wiring kit,,I was sorely disappointed with that kit. Listed to your dad,,In the last few years I have installed & helped install no less than 5 American Autowire kits and have yet to go looking for any additional pieces to install them. This kit has the most detailed instructions in color and the components are individually bagged. Best bang for your buck. HRP
It was the American wire kit my friend had not painless,I did get it from him trading the 351 Ford block, heads and crankshaft for it.I opened it up and everything is there.I did find the whole old wiring harness is more damaged than I found.Someone in the past butchered it up.I am going to throw that wiring harness in my s**** copper wire pile when I am done rewireing it.I have the body at the auto body shop being worked right now also being painted, don't do auto body work called I am not good at that
