I was needing to change the gl*** in the windshield on my 33 ford pickup and am having trouble getting it apart and was wondering how to go about doing this. I removed the four small screws( two on each side) that are in the top sides of the frame, is there something else that I am missing? I thought that it would pull apart but I hate to pry on the frame to much. I believe it has the original rubber in it and maybe the thing has turned to goop and is stuck but I dont want to bend or brake the thing, any advice or pics would be appreciated. thanks Mark

Mark: Its been a couple of years ago but I took my '34 frame apart and remember a small screw going through the frame with a nut on the other end. Seems it would be rather obvious if yours had that. They can be real stubborn. If your sure you have all the screws out, I'd soak it with a good solvent like PB blaster and let it sit a day. Rubber / plastic hammer will hopefully do it. Have any pics you can show us? Tim

Get the screws out. Little WD around let it soak. Take a block of wood and a mallet get the bottom off. Hold the gl*** with a glove and hit the wood to remove the top.

  5. You got it, just those four screws and patients! Use wd40 or any oil to soften up the rubber.

I dont know about 34 but in 35, the windshield frame is hollow and the four bolts go into a solid insert. I used heat to cook out the rust, then lubricant then hit it repeatedly with a hammer. EASY! its a hollow frame and will distort

I would try the PB Blaster solvent first and if that doesn't work, put some heat on it. This will help loosen things up. Should be able to tap it apart with a hammer and block of wood while it is hot. This has worked for me in the past.
