Several years ago I finally convinced those people who thought they were going to dress me in clothes I wouldn't wear, in sizes that don't fit, to stop doing that ...
I WON'T wait in a line to do the ritual exchange/return at a store.
    JUst ain't gonna happen.
There was a stack of clothes with the tags still on them by the back door one year for almost a full year.
They looked just like the old bath towel in the cat's basket next to them, covered with cat hair, because the cats had put them to use as just another sleeping spot.
That's what cats do most of the time, sleep, puke hairballs and stomach acid on the teak dining room table, and sharpen there claws on the newest cloth they can find...
Wife asked me what I was going to do with "my" clothes.
I told her I already did something with them, disowned them.
She told the givers what happened...

Since then I get what I want... A gift certificate to the near by TARGET store and I buy toilet paper, toothpaste and Kitty litter for the next six months with it.
That way I can spend the cash money I would have blown on those mundane houshold items on car stuff I really want, when I want!

I politely asked my family last year for nothing but gift certificates from the local speed shops and they came through in spades. Apparantly, they remembered my request, because last week for my birthday I got a gift card from Speedway. I'm convinced they'll come through again.

I'm at the point where I need a lot of little things to get my '34 Ford on the road by spring. I did get teh ch***is re***embled last weekend as planned, so I'm doing good.

  21. well, after 10+ years of hounding my father, my dream may come true. He may turn loose of the '59 chrysler windsor sedan that my grandfather bought new. It has been parked in a garage since '70 in socal. it has the original dealer plates still on it. factory 3 spd push ****on on the dash, factory air, swivel seats, floor mats, stereo, and it has manual windows. Needs a new engine as it has a 13 to 1 drag motor (grandmother was a lead foot). supposedly it would give many a 60's muscle car a very hard time. it will get a freshening up, but due to its history (and my family would ex-communicate me) there will be no body mods done to the car. But a 400+ hp big block might help. If i can find them I will be posting some pictures I have been saving of it since I was 14. now I just need to get a picture of brandy in a santa hat sitting on the bonnet...oh to dream.
