Moderator, if this is either out of line or in the wrong forum I apologize in advance.

Hello, I just picked up a cheap ($100) T5 for the 51, 3600 I mentioned in my Howdy new guy post. Well, pulled the top this afternoon and I see why it was cheap. The input shaft bearing is shot.

Is there a member source in the family here at The H.A.M.B. I need the input shaft bearing, front and rear seal and nylon bushing for the shifter. If no member anyone have a preferred source.

I'm in the sticks and no local options so it'll be an internet purchase regardless.

I haven't opened up a standard trans in a long time, surprised at how simple it looks in there. To my untrained eye, everything looked good, no obvious broken parts (beyond the bearing) or extra pieces in the bottom. Hoping to replace the bearing, flush out the case with diesel, then in the next week or so get it in the 51 and see if I should have gone for a full rebuild.

The input bearing cup and cone are Timken M88010 & M88048 respectivly. Together, they are called Timken SET1.

The input seal is SKF 12363.

The output seal is SKF 15041.

You you should be able to get those, or cross-reference them to ones you can get.

As are most automotive bearings and seals, these are indeed fairly generic bearings and seals. They don't know what they are made for, nor does it matter what they cross-reference as.

You should be able to score these at any better auto parts store.

I can't find a part number for the shifter bushing.

gimpyshotrods, THANKS and I appreciate the advice. Since my post a bit ago I've been reading a few rebuild threads and looked at one detailed guide. Gonna retract the comment about it looking "pretty simple in there". It'd be more that a day job for me to do a total strip and rebuild that's for sure.
