    Just curious...........

Came across this pic of a '39 Ford Kustom (could be a 40 standard).

Does anyone recognize this car? I remember it being around the Michigan car scene in the 1980's.

The picture doesn't do the color justice. Mild Kustom, always liked it.

    Wondering if it survived.

  3. The car was owned by former KKOA Kolonel Dick Styles of Milford, Michigan. In fact, that's him to the left of the car with his hands in his pockets, and his wife on the right side of the car. It wasn't really "mild" as it had a chopped top. The headlights were frenched-in using some kind of '52-54 Ford/Mercury rings. Dick sold the car, probably in the 1990s sometime. I'm not sure what happened after that. I've always liked it, the color and modifications were really nice.

Dick had a string of nice customs, including Lee Pratt's Buick LeSabre that he bought directly from Lee.

    Wow! Thanks! I appreciate it!

I always liked the car too. He repainted it at one point, a bit darker without all the pinstripes.

Well, then...I guess that means it could be out there somewhere!!! Hopefully not a billet covered trailer queen "S" word...... rod.

I would love to own it exactly as it looked in the 80's!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again for the info! Never fails.....and why I post questions on the HAMB!

  5. I know Dick, in fact in my Custom Cars 2009 Annual, I have a section entitled "Thirty Two Pages Of Featurettes" in which all of the photos used were from Dick's collection, and taken in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Dick goes down to Arizona in the winter, I'll try to give him a call down there and ask him if he knows where the car is now. I'm sure it's out there somewhere. I'd like to know myself! There were some real nice custom cars built in the 1980s and 1990s.
