I just purchased a 1953 Buick special. Drove it home and it was running fine that evening. Next morning i went out to start it...it fired up and stalled. Tried it again and nothing. Had the battery tested and its fine. Any ideas?
Old gas in the tank possibly. That will pull all sorts of gum and **** into the carb and fuel filter. You could also be flooding it. Not uncommon back in the day.
bad or no fuel , choke stuck, bad or loose cap or dist. could be a lot of things, but like said here a lot .... no pictures? it didn't happen, more info would be useful engine? trans , carb? etc,
Hey there L-dog. I had the same problems with my '53 super. I found that the fuel filter / water separator was clogged. The long drives seem to kick up rust dust particles in the old fuel tank. Once u stop for a bit the dust settles in the system and clogs a bunch of things. In order for me to get things running again, I put an inline filter before the fuel pump (to help protect it from the debris) and rebuilt the separator with a new filter. I then added some fuel directly in the carb and fired her up. Since then she runs good, although before spring I will have the tank cleaned and sealed. Let me know if u have questions or need any part info on the filters. Good luck! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
