Ok talked to Bobe and he said he doesnt own the red 50 plymouth, but he does have one for those interested. The owner of the 50 died 4 years ago and his family is trying to get the ***les to sell the cars. also the # is 563-323-8791 and he said anyone can call for parts, he has TONS of stuff. If you think you need it. HE HAS IT. also if you need TRIM call him, he said he has so much it would be hard to imagine. He also shot me a decent price on what I was looking for, nothing too bad so dont think he will be outrageous and over priced. Give him a call, the worst possible thing is him to say he doesnt have it. But he will look and figure out a way to find it if possible. He also saved the 6 stock car from the crusher years ago. He said he just collects and collects, not many people come to him anymore for stuff, just his regulars. He has owned this yard for 55 years so you can imagine his inventory. He even had a KB Lincoln grill, looked like a 34 Ford grill. I stuck my foot in my mouth when I referred to it as a 34 and he kind of laughed at me. Good luck, and hopefully I can get the 49 done and start some projects based out of his yard, refer to previous post!!!!!!
Yep I was there last fall in the truck. Even his wife knows her stuff too. She called my truck a Studebaker. She knew it was a 33 Ford. Real good people to talk too. They both know what they got. I did not see the pic of the A coupe. He must have sold it.
if he would've had an A coupe. I would still be there washing dishes if you know what I'm saying. I did see a ton of stuff I want, but then again its just a WANT. I wish I was loaded full of cash. I mentioned this place at work and one guy said, Bobe is loaded himself and possibly in the 7 figure mark, I dont know, maybe in ***ests I can agree, but not sure otherwise. Stick Shift, His wife is funny, she asked me what i was looking for, I said chevy truck stuff, she coyly looked around and said "Well we got tons of stuff, so hope you find what your looking for" you know with that wife kind of laugh about her husband! it was so funny. She was sweeping the ground and collecting loose bolts and sorting them while he was inside working on an old Mercury poss 1940 or so. He also told me about a swap meet on Sunday in Mediapolis, Il if anyone is interested. He said its a small one but they have great stuff sometimes. PoPo
quick question for you guys, what do you think is a fair price for that Model A Tudor? All the bottom of the metal is rusted and needs replaced, the p*** door is laying inside along with the roof frame, the firewall is in good cond, it needs a new cowl. just curious as to what its worth, thanks.
...hey, thanks for the feedback on Bobe's stuff; good luck buyin your parts from him. Let us know what you end up getting. ...you get any more pics?
I'd be surprised if he doesn't have six A coupes. I bought a pair of '32 roadster quarters off him 15 years ago. And then he showed me his other '32 roadsters (yes, plural). Must have been half a dozen roadsters in that room, with another half dozen undesireable (read that "closed car") '32's. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy is worth in the eight figure range.
I know this is a very old thread but does anyone happen to know if old Bobe is still alive. I bumped in to him in the late eighties when I was a teenager out to Davenport for the Leadsled Spectacular, was really close to purchasing a smahsed up but solid 54 Belair he had in the yard at that time but the clutch in my ride was iffy and needed to drag my *** back some 1000 miles to Ontario.. Anyway Bobe invited me in, showed me through various buildings in his compound and I could not get over the amount of Deuce stuff that kept showing up from building to building. Had a coffee with he ,his cronies and his cute little wife of whom he gave proper hell to when she asked how much cooler the weather was from where we came from "way up there in Canada" ( actually about 125 miles due south of where they lived,ha,ha) I had one opportunity to get back out there while driving truck in 1997 but couldn't get there when the place was open or even if it were anymore... Great place, awesome memories...
Pretty sure I remember seeing him at the fall Cedar Rapids swap meet. Hey PoPo, what did you end up buying from Bobe?
