Tim Barton is the same guy that had a series of metal shaping articles in Street Rodder Magazine, back in the early 1990s. The Metalshaping book set covers the subject of the forgotten technologies that were used by the first car builders and later the early WWII metal airplane builders. Newer revolutionary metal shaping technologies are also revealed, many for the first time. Tims enormous research into the secretive craft of metal shaping took him over four years. After all of the research for this book, he compiled enough information for almost fifty chapters of information. So breaking down all of the information, the book turned into seven volumes. With each volume being about 200 pages in length. This book is the most extensive book that has ever been published about the craft of metal shaping. I have been able preview copies of the first two books; which are awesome. There are patents, early ads, dates, brochures, rare photos, and a timeline in which it all happened. Received the first two sets. This is has to be dedicated reading for any one interested in the metalshaping community. The history of the trade and the information shared is just plain outstanding i have never seen a more complete collection of information on this subject. Mr. Barton Thanks for all the research and time you have put into these books.
Even if you don't have time to read the whole book, just looking at pictures of some of the tools that Tim found info and patents on is worth the time. Believe me if you have time to look, you will have the patients to read what you want.
anyone recieve books 5,6 and 7 ? the website doesnt give any new update info and had no luck getting himon the phone. the reply to the email i sent was an auto-reply that just said the same thing the update page said.
Tim Barton p***ed away on Monday the 9th, I believe. A relative of his called me with the news yesterday. A very brilliant man... RIP Tim
I've heard some rumblings from others regarding these books, some of which haven't been sent out. I just got off of the phone with Tim's step daughter; who I've talked to several times. She told me that the family has had some other problems and the books have been put onto the back burner, so to speak. They have every intention of fulfilling Tim's obligations and vision on the books and ask everyone involved to be patient while they sort everything out.
I have the first Four Books as well. In fact I have read and loaned them out so much they are starting to get a bit dog-eared. While I would really like the other books, having paid for them and a supposed Compilation CD/Video Disc. I have already received so much from the books I have, I am going to wait patiently, as opposed to yelling like I would usually do...
