Hey all, just wanted to p*** along a warning to watch out for anyone selling items using handle "hamber$$" or sending e-mail from "adoliver847@gmail.com".

I negotiated a deal for a 59AB flattie for $1000, with partial payment upfront and the balance due on receipt. Well, $650 via Western Union (yeah, I know . . . ) and over a month later, the seller no longer responds to e-mails, has never sent a tracking number, and I have no engine to show for it.

Guess it's my fault for being too trusting, just don't want anyone else to get hosed.

While I think it ****s you got ripped off, in 2013, I can't feel anything for anyone STILL falling for the Western Union scam. Seriously.

    Good luck.

That is too bad that you fell for that old scam. But at $650 I am sure it is a lesson you will never forget.

There are no victims only participants. With that said, buying a used engine that you do not physically inspect is a bad move. There probably would have been a thread of him getting screwed if did receive the engine.

The OP is offering a heads up/beware, it does not look like a ***** thread or whoa is me plea. Some of you posting need another hobby to kill time or another car to work on. Cruising the HAMB non stop 7 days a week, posting what, 5-10 times a day. Go for a walk! OP thank you for warning the peoples, it may spare another guy a hit to the wallet.

I got a PM today from a new user from the UK. Zero posts and he was answering a want ad for parts I wanted. Very vague PM with no info on the parts I was looking for. He will not be hearing from me and that is not the first time it has happened here. Be careful.

Thanks for posting the info so others don't get hit.

Use your credit card to make paypal purchases. If paypal doesn't get your money back, your credit card company will

paypal is great for buyers, but terrible for sellers since you have little or no protection as a seller. Paypal will help people steal your stuff.

I like postal money orders when selling. cash them at the post office when you ship.

I hate it when someone falls for a scam, but it still continues to happen.

At least the OP is trying to teach others by his misfortune. HRP

My feelings exactly. As a BUYER, PP will protect you mostly. As a seller, if they used a credit card and make ANY complaint of ANY type....... fuuugetabou***, YOU LOSE. PP wont even try to argue with a credit card company, they just roll over like a trained pup.
