6-71 Blower Install

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by wheels777, Jan 20, 2009.

  1. Someone still makes the dedicated 6V71 intake, I saw them at a show for sale for about $400.

The intake and the engine are not a concern. Both are owned and the engine is stout enough with forged parts and proper cam. It has seen 12 pounds without issue. I have run boosted engines before using turbo's. A lot of great comments about intake and engine. Still looking for answers about the blower.

Uh, you need heavy duty bearings! Origionals will work, but the added insurance is worth it. The seals need to be the better made 'new' ones, since your blower has tight tolerances, putting a lot of boost out.....guess what part of the blower seals the rotors to endplates.......wala....bearing seals!
Will a 6-71 make more than 10 PSI.....you betcha! Just let me say this.....I'm kinda incognito, Alky FC's HAVE hit more than 25+ PSI, but thats with 20-30% OVERDRIVE!!!!!!!

The goal is to do and spend as little as necessary to install on a low buck rod.

You are in for a treat when you put 10 pounds of boost threw your low buck build .I have a purpose built motor 116 fuel is 12 dollars a gallon . My motor will not run on pump gas over driven. 10 pounds of boost and cheap do not go together made me laugh reading your pipe dream. My last 2 cents

You know I was at the drag expo and seen the Barry Grant intakes. If you can just get a bottom for one of them Multi carb/bolt off top I think a plate would be the ticket just need a PoP Off.

  7. As usual,we get caught up in the subject matter and don't really answer your questions.
Your question was can I use multible timing belts? No. Not successfully. Use a single belt. Better performance.
Do you need to fill with oil?
Of couse you do. Same as a 6-71. 20 ounces.
Can it be made to work with small chevy? Of course it can. Use a correct manifold (Dyers). Mikey

I believe the rotors are longer on the V671. They use them in the aftermarket 8-71 cases

  11. A friend ran a 6V71 years ago on a BBC, he bought a conventional blower intake and our local machine shop made a plate to bolt on it and the blower bolted to it, real simple deal. A blower intake is best to start with as it should have a pop off valve and it is already milled paralle to the crank centerline as opposed to the more conventional carb intakes which are typically on a 5 degree slope for the engine in a production chassis. He used modified 6-71 pulley stuff. Ran like hell to with a pair of AFBs.
