Friend of mine has a GM 4spd setup that I would like to purchase but I need some help in decoding it first. The numbers I was able to get from it are as follows.

    CBF 378488
    14030811 117
    C-15390

There was also what appeared to be a saw blade like stamping with possibly a "NP" or "ND" inside it.

    ANy help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Moving it around it felt like it was an aluminum housing.

that "np" makes me wonder if it's a new process ******. those come out of mopars... not gm's.

stick a magnet to it. that'll tell you if iron or alum.

google is yur friend. search muncie, m-20, m-21, m-22,rockcrusher(those 2 are the same),saginaw & t-10 & you should be able to get pics of each.

    hope that helps a little...mel

I don't know the part #'s but 1st and 2nd series Borg Warners were iron cases with aluminum tail housings and Muncies were all aluminum.Chevrolet p***enger car stick shift bolt patterns have been the same since like 55 thru the late 70's at least,if not the early 80's.
G.M. Warners and Muncies have 2 shifter shafts in the side cover and 1 in the tail housing.
Saginaws are all iron and have all 3 shafts on the side cover.
Fords and Mopars were completely different animals.
Also I don't recall ever working on a pre 70's Ford or Mopar that was aluminum
    Maybe that'll help,T.OUT
