A friend gave me the information on this site - thought I would enjoy it - he was right.

I have a nostalgia drag race car that we put together in the 60's. I raced it until '83 and got it out of mothballs a few years ago. It shows the mind can't remember pain! For anyone who cares, it's a 23 Ford T Roadster, painted in 1970, late style 430" aluminum rod Hemi, Hilborn on alcohol, clutchflite, Olds/Pontiac - you know, all the latest stuff. I can remember when it was pretty high tech - actually won Bristol in the mid 70's. It was built as an A/SR, but ran A/G and B/A, too.

I'll try to insert some pictures, but this could be more dangerous than running the car.

Mr. Smith, the HAMB drags is a get together that our board owner, Ryan, puts together every year. It is a place to come race, meet old friends and new ones and have the best time of your life.

We do not take it serious;) , if you believe that, most of it is for fun, grudge races and a lot of BS.
Keep your eyes open around July and you will begin to see post about the HAMB drags. Come on down, you will enjoy it. Its like going back in time, heads up racing, the way it should be.
    Welcome to the HAMB

It is. One of these days I'm going to do it with my eyes open. I've noticed that old guys and kids seem to like it. ;) - LS

Welcome Smitty, It's always good to have more of us old timers on board. BTW the HAMB drags happen at Mo-Kan Raceway, just outside of Joplin.

Welcome. I talked to you at the Mid-West Hot Rod Reunion in Columbus. Looks like you did some cage work - are they letting you make full passes now?

Yes they do. The Division 3 tech inspector, Don Cobbs, helped me get it certified. He sure was not like the NHRA folks from the old days. They were like dealing with a cross between the IRS and the Highway Patrol ;) . He went out of his way to help me. Thanks for remembering me. I'm honored. - LS

Good memory. We may have crossed paths way back when - I had more hair and it was less gray! Thanks for remembering and saying Hello. - LS

    Glenn,

It truly is good to hear from you. We don't cross paths as often as we used to. Give a call when you visit Summit and maybe we can have a bite.

As for the stories, I recall the old observation that: "The older I get, the faster I was!!" But maybe I'll give it a try.

Stay well and ahead of the alligators,

    Lyn
