I got a Triumph Storm this summer. Love the thing!

  3. Those V12s were notorious for ****in' gas, form what I've heard 2-3 mpg loaded or empty. I'm sure a good modern fuel management system would help, maybe 4-5 mpg. LOL

    neverdun likes this.
  5. If I want to fool around with V-12s I'll go this direction. About 700 hp and 1200 ft lbs of torque at 2000 rpms. would make that 702 GMC look like a pea shooter a**** field artillery.

As it is I'm using 1/2 of one of those in my build. 6v53T Detroit Diesel

Back to my world. Yesterday seemed like X-mas , both of my new tools came in . 48" pan break and hd shrinker/ stretcher .Today I moved the sleeper into shop and started striping it . I will be taking 20" out of the length tomorrow and 6" out of the width . Then will be cutting big notch out to fit over motor . Will also be matching hole from cab . I probably will not get it done before I leave next Tuesday for fl.to visit my God child . I will be back in Texas Nov.1 to go to Gene Winfield top chop cl*** in Austin . Hope to meet some hambers there .

The LSR is one if not the best car get togeathers in USA !

I just got from vacation .Went to two car shows , and the Chop cl*** at Mercury Charlies with the man himself , Gene Winfield , what a learning exp.

Got back on coe project yesterday . Making the sleeper smaller . Must have drilled out 200 rivits , then cut 20" out . Monday UPS is bringing my new huck riveter and rivits . Hope to get some work done before I leave for Goodguys in Scotsdale next weekend . Any HAMB'er there look me up , I'll be in my 39 pickup . LATTER, Blue .

Just got back from Goodguys Scottsdale . Nice show but the best part is while driving around Glendale I scored a 59 chevy 2 door wagon . My wife has always wanted one . Its 18 in Alpine right now with ice fog but as soon as it warms up I will take and post some pictures . Yea a new project . Will be selling our 57 buick to help fund the project . Latter , Blue

Lucky you getting a 59 Wagon, always wanted one, but had to settle for the dash only. Maybe I will feel better going down the highway in my COE looking at the dash. :D

Onward through the fog ! Got back from my second trip to Az. to a big ice storm . We lost over 200 power poles in county . No power , phone , and since I have a well no water for way to long . Nothing compared to my northern brothers (Calgary) .

Got 59 unloaded and will start collecting parts , already got motor and trans .

Finished cutting down sleeper , and put in over 250 rivits . The huck gun is really easy to use . Put in new bracing for bed and mounts . Fabbbbed up frame to hold sleeper . I used 4 motor mounds to isolate it from frame . tomorrow I will fold up some some panels in storage area and then mount sleeper . Will be a big day . After mounting I will be able to decide on bed height . My contact in sa will be able to fold up my 16ga to size .

  15. Damn, I hate ice, much rather deal with snow and frigid cold.
You're getting ahead of me with your sleeper. LOL I've heard that Huck guns are nice, but I chose to panel glue mine together and finish all the seams. so it will be smooth looking. Keep up the good work and don't get led off on a tangent with that Chevy wagon. Tell your wife she will have to wait her turn! Yeah, Right!

There's a reason they are riveted together, panel shrinkage and expansion. You may find that you need to rivet or screw yours together later. You'll know when if the seam starts showing. That's what happened on the one I have on my smaller car trailer. I filled the p***-thru with plywood and glued aluminum to that and finished the seams. The seams were showing the first year. When I did the one for my larger trailer I screwed the new panel on and it's fine

Ya i have been watching them as an option for my engine and ****** after the deployment. And I'm originally from Cleveland so I have to represent. lol Do you recommend their service and were you happy with their product? Shipping expensive?

What about the 502? Got that from pickapart?

I worked out in the shop today for about 6 hours ,came in for a cup of coffee and cake and that was the end of work . I hate this getting old **** .

Ok enough complaining , I finished the mounts for the sleeper this morn . and bent up walls for storage compartments . So I mounted it to the frame and it came out nice .

In the morn . I will mount front fenders and running boards and decide on bed LxWxH , and rear fender placement and maybe some rear boards . Blue

    Holy cow, 95"
My GMC 14-bolt is 82" to the outside of the tires. I searched for the narrowest dually rear I could find.

The truck is coming along nicely. Look forward to more updates.

As I understand it, you can take a 70's through 90's GM 3/4 ton rear end and swap the dually parts onto it. It apparently a bolt on deal and its how the guys running the 24" semi wheels on slammed duallys are getting everything under the fenders. Essentially you end up with a narrowed axle using all stock parts.

My 1987 3/4-ton rear was 4" wider, but yes you can use it as a dually. It just takes 16.5" rims or larger.

    Lookin' good Blue, couple questions.
Is the sleeper going to lift with the tilt deck so you can get at the motor?
How are you going to seal the sleeper to the cab?

B -Bop ,the sleeper goes up with bed . I haven't decided on seal yet . I may use a factory style but make a guick disconnect on one side , or they make a seal that is bolted on one side and firm slip fit on other side like a pickup seal for camper with p*** through window but heavy duty .

I messed around with fenders and bed supports today and will call in sizes to heavy metal shop . 84" wide 9' long 39" tall (will be 17" tall in bed rest will be cover up ). Will finish up frame Wen. Blue

I finished the supports for the bed today and mounted the front and one side . I turned the truck around to make it easier to work on . The bar behind the tire is 4" higher than the front in case I decided to raise the back for clearance . After mounting the side it will have to be raised and hopefully with fenders on it will look ok. The bed sides are 38" over all but 25" are skirts to cover frame and fuel tanks . They are only 13" plus 3" in 45 bend out . Pushed truck back inside and forgot to take pict. from side .

The steering box photos are for daddio211. Blue
