Bought a front half floor section for my '34 from him and it had a pretty quick turn around as he had them in stock. Was pleased with the quality so I ordered the rear section a few months later. He gave me a date when he planned to make them which kept getting pushed back and back. Gave up and ordered parts from Steves Auto Restoraton. Nice guy however.

  2. What the hell? I dont care how good a part is, its not worth seven years.

    4 to 7 days= shipping and processing.
1 week to 2 weeks= 1st phone call, nice demeanor
    2 weeks to 4 weeks= 2nd and 3rd phone call, kinda huffy
    4 weeks to 6 weeks= 4th phone call, WTF
6 weeks to 3 months= 5th phone call, WTF, threats of law suit, contact with BBB
3 months to 6= depending on amount, personal visit from a friend nearby
6 months+ = probably need to use someone else

    Freds rules:D

Thought I would post an update to this. Shortly after I started this thread, Bill PM'ed me that he had an extra set of full length pans and that I could get them if I wanted. We struck a deal and I left a few days later to go and pick them up. A little over a 1000 miles later I'm back home with a set of pans and a new friend in Bill, A super nice guy that went out of his way to help me out, not knowing me from Adam! Thanks Bill!

Yes I saw that thread after I had ordered them. He (Paul Bradley) told me too when I ordered them that they were in stock and would be shipped out in a few days as he was out of card board to ship them today. He seems like a nice guy and all but damn, just tell people the truth.

Here it is 5+ months later (10 months total), still no pans and still no refund. I called my CC company several months ago to see about getting the charges reversed but they said it had been too long to dispute? So on Thanksgiving I guess I'm thankful that I didn't get taken for more money or that I am not still waiting for them (thanks to Bill Nabors) the body is off to the painters right now.

Bradleys seem to be the best out there for the early ford floors. Never heard anyone say they were displeased with the product...

When you order them, they tell you they have tem in stock and will be shipped within a week. Its not until 6 mos later after all the sad stories you realize they are feeding you a line of crap. They are pretty nice pans though. I've been waiting almost a year now for pans for my '40 coupe. (for the '40 I hear the Carpenter pans are nicer).

  16. The 2 months doesn't seem unreasonable , 2 years is really fucked up.
What was the total $ on that?

It's sad but it seems the best way to deal with getting what you need for your build is to lay your hands on it and buy it on the spot. That is what is so great about the HAMB, you can ask about who are good vendors to deal with and then make your decision...........

I don't get this useless ranting about how long it takes. Do your homework, figure out if you can wait that long, and order or look elsewhere.

I have a set on order from him, but I knew going in that it would take nearly 2 years. I call every few months to let him know I'm still interested and watching the calendar.

He's always delivered to those that have waited. Learn patience or move on.

  19. Two years for a floor pan? And that's OK? It's not like it's an obscure piece of trim that will still allow you to build 99% of the car while you wait. Floor pans are usually one of the first things you will do on a body, and now the entire project is being held hostage for two years. If you're OK with that, that's cool, but waiting two years for a piece of stamped steel is unacceptable. And having to call "every couple of months to let them know that you're still interested"? I don't even know how to respond to that statement.

I've worked in aerospace for the last 30 years, and most of that time has been spent building one-off prototypes. Very complicated, unique parts, and I fully understand that some things take time to manufacture. But in your case, a person is building a part from an 80 year old blueprint. Not exactly rocket science.

If waiting two years for a piece of sheetmetal that's not a complicated assembly is a reason to learn patience, then maybe it IS time to move on to another vendor who can produce a quality part in a timely manner.

  20. Something very zen like and profound about that statement. Yet at the same time it's not becoming of a hot rodder. I can't put my finger on it just yet but I will soon.

The "in stock" lie get the order then pisses people off. Yet If it was stated 24-30 month lead time well that would make most look elsewhere before letting go of their cash.

I ordered 40 rear pans from Bradley. Not even close to actual shape and features of originals. They were usefull for misc. patches and such.
Ordered from Drake and then Carpenter. Same stuff different company.
They were expensive to be sure. However the fit and profiles are very nice and worth it. Also got the parts right away.

Next time someone orders some floor pans from Mr.Bradley, ask if they maybe in stock or is that defiantly maybe in stock , I'm sure you will get the same answer, now if you paid in full and were told they would ship within a week, I'd be plenty pissed, but WTF can u do with liars , the last time I checked Zebras don't change their stripes ! Neither do MFLiars !

Good Luck! I asked for a refund after 6 months. I guess he is backed up on them too. I never got that either. Luckily for me a guy who happened to find a set from somebody else that had sold off their project while waiting for the pans then got the set he ordered years later sold me those. He waited a little over 3 years for these.
BTW when I ordered mine I specifically asked if they were made and IN STOCK NOW and was told "yes but we are waiting on cardboard to ship out the orders right now." that was 11 months ago.

I would normally have built 2 entire cars in the span of just over 2 years.

EDIT: Here is what the Bradley pans look like for the '40 they are pretty nice but nothing that should take YEARS to get.

Wholly shit , do we have a shortage on cardboard now ! This guy sounds like a great fabricator , and a excellent story teller !

  27. I bought pans for my 40 Coupe from him I had a few years back................awesome product but horrible wait...........cant say much more other than if I knew I needed floors I would get a head start and order the day I got the car. He probably doesnt keep much if any stock on hand and cant justify stamping a whole run of 1 thing for 1 order but I understand getting pissed

Well I guess that I am the exception to the consensus. I needed them for a 39 woodie and he told me 3 months because he only runs 25 sets of each after the supply runs out. Got them in 5 months. But that was 1999. Back then everyone said it would be a year or so. Somebody should talk Brookville into buying his dies.

  29. Sometimes I think there'd be only one set of dies anyway.

  30. From what I understand for the early pans, he IS the quality part guy all others are poor in comparision. I'm waiting for a set to pop up somewhere.
