A friend has 34' pick up buckets on his roadster, up graded [probably 55/60] H4 bulbs/reflector kit, then upped to 95/100 and still night lumination is not very good, listening to his whine;)..I can't get him to change to "guides" and 7" sealed beams.... Someone told him that the problem is in the stock lenz, so the question is there a better lenz?

Does he have a full 12v at the headlights? Reflector kit chinese junk or actually reflects light? Unless the light is being diffused all over I dont see how the lens is the issue.

I agree that the reflector is most likely the problem.

BEST place to get the reflectors re-silvered. They will practically last forever. Bright as sealed beams.

The light/reflector kit was from some place established, **** S comes to mind but not sure..Some one put the bug in his head that the lenz was the culprit..

Thanks, I will bring this up with him..It may also be just an adjustment but I think he may be expecting too much; as compared to a new vehicle..He has had old vehicles all his life but he is getting old too..:)

bright as sealed beams is ot a compliment.first you need an alternator with plenty of output then u need quality lens then u need powerfull bulbs ,no point in having one without the others.i have just ordered CIBIE lens for my 38 im fitting 100/90 bulbs.shud be gud.

previously on a 1440 shovelhead was heading away for the w/end reaching our destination after 100 mile spin i smelt burn, not from my bike i thought ,somebody else.it was from mine my sleeping bag had slipped down over my headlight and the cibie lens/100/90 combination had melted through to the centre of my sleeping bag.draw your own conclusions

Have had several Deuces and running the original headlights,I have used all the replacement head light kits, including the seal beam kits that fit inside the original lights,,the all fall short in being marginal at most....

Until the newest reflectors that Bob Drake has had for the past few years,,the new reflectors are not concave like the ones in the past but are constructed from chrome plated plastic and based on a design patterned after the mini cooper headlights, and the use halogen bulbs.

I have these on my truck and they work like a champ,,there is no shadows like the reflectors of the past and the lights are BRIGHT.

I honestly think these are one of the best things to make our hot rods safer to drive at night. HRP

I have OEM lenses with QH bulb. I had my reflectors resilvered and used QH bulbs from Cl***ic and Vintage bulbs. Perfect focus and vast improvement over original yet they look OEM.

Some halogen high/low beam bulbs use a different post for the ground. If they are wired wrong you will get a dull low beam and an extra bright high beam because both filaments are burning.
