Hey, does anyone know if this has been done, or who has some pics? Also are the widths similar or the same between the original and jag front ends? What steel wheels can I use with the jag? Sorry about the few questions Cheers toby
Hi Toby. If you're on that Facebook thing check out Valley Custom in Cambridge. They've got a 48 aero on the go with jag ifs. I believe it required narrowing. Most people I know run 15" chev rims with jag installs. I stuck with the jag steelies at the moment as I'm running full wheel covers.
Im doing it right now. igot some pics on my facebook page, magnus albertsson. Im planing on making a "how to" about it when im done
I use a Jag XJ6 ifs on my -47 Olds. Check out my built thread for pics and info. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=638469
Awesome thanks guys, makes me fell better getting some experience, SoCal - Cheers for that, chris is an old mate from Gissy, so there been a good help. and awesome how to guys, having guys who are happy to show there work is wicked. Cheers
Tobz101, you will find that the large centre hub on the Jag IFS will be too large for some of the more common 4.75 inch PCD rims (Like the Commodore ones). And I came from Gisborne too! Former member of Surf City R&CC Cheers Todd
Commodore are metric, similar to, but not the same as 4.75. While the bolt pattern seems the same, it's not and shouldn't be used as such. Remember, also, while Jag uses the Chev bolt pattern, it has 1/2" studs. And yes, the centre hub can interfere on some wheels.
Hey Weasel, do you know what a 48 fleetline measurement is hub to hub? If the cross member needs to be narrowed, can I remove the section difference between jag and fleet line) from the center and rejoin, or does this stuff up geometry? looking at it I cant see why not, but I have heard you I would need to cut a wedge instead of a square cut? and the wheels, well I work out like you said my holden ones wont fit, so will look for something different.
