TWEEKERS!!! Did you have your cash hidden really well? If so, someone prob knew where it was. Like someone already said, you have a pissed off ex-employee? I have a battery powered tamper alert on my alarm box. If the line is cut, the battery sends a signal to the alarm company. Good luck to you.

Doesn't do much good now, but for when you get started back up (and you will). Insurance companies don't want to insure you for LIABILITY, because yes, tattoo shops are high risk. Between disease from not sterile equipment to just a plain "misspell" of a name that looks "off" when fixed, because that "liability waiver" keeps the honest people honest, but wont stop a lawsuit. HOWEVER, what your dipshit insurance asswhip didn't mention is basic theft/loss of use insurance,,, covers the shop in case of a fire, theft, whatever. With $5k in equipment, that wouldn't be real expensive compared to a lot of trades (my cnc plasma is about $15k alone). Anyway, sorry for your loss, keep the eyes open and post any pics of stuff that would be recognisable to others.

Fidget, how does the tamper alert work if they cut the phone lines? The only way I know of to protect yourself against the phone lines being cut is to have a cell phone back-up in the alarm panel.

My Dad owns a salvage yard (all newer stuff, mostly FWD - i.e. not interesting) and he had all of his tools stolen a few years ago when some scum bags cut the phone lines in the phone pedistal out by the street (little green box that's about 8" square and 3' tall). Alarm was probably going off like crazy but they just cut the wires to the horn, smashed the alarm box, broke all the cameras, stole the monitor and vcr, etc. Even took the delivery truck to load the tools up, drove it to a park and after they transfered all the stuff out of it they dumped the truck in the creek. After the insurance (thank God) kicked in he replaced the alarm system with a newer model that included the cell phone back up. Around here one of the residential security companies is starting to market them to residential customers so I think they've come down in price over the last few years - might be worth looking into.

Okay, now I guess I should explain who I am. Basically, I'm a lurker who registered because I thought I had something to add to this post. Been into rods (street rods, hot rods, whatever) for as long as I can remember due to my Dad (he's still got a 34 Plymouth he bought before I was born and I'm 30). I've got a 46 Ford we're putting together but it's far from traditional - mustang2, LT1, Explorer 8.8" rear (newer parts are easier for me to get). The one thing I think everyone into cars can agree with is that the stance makes the car and that's what attracted me to this website. So many pics of cool cars with an awesome stance. Hope that suffices for the intro police, I'll be off in the corner looking in until I find something else where I might know something that'll be usefull.

It is a wireless backup. It sends a signal to the monitoring station that indicates tampering. Don't ask me how it works, because that's all I know. I had it installed on my home alarm when I updated everything.
