Gene Altizer in the former Jungle Jim Leiberman Nova at Cecil County. This is the car that won the NHRA Winternationals with Clare Sanders at the wheel. Altizer ran it in the east coast fuel funny car circuit in the early 70's.....big block Chevy UNBLOWN on 100% nitro.

There's more...another shot from Cecil County.

This car, with Altizer at the helm, qualified for the AA/FC 16 car field at the Super Stock Nationals at York US30 Dragway in York, Pennsylvania. 15 Blown Nitro Funny Cars and 1 UNBLOWN nitro car with a big block Chevy against all the Blown Hemi Chryslers. He won several rounds, much to the dismay of the Blown guys, before finally losing to the Candies and Hughes Funny Car from Louisiana. Giant killer for sure!!

  14. Great pics!! AHHH the S&S TEAM. Ilive not to far from where Charlie hill and pork zartman had there shop. They ran the DIRTY THIRTY, and later THE FILTHY 40 WILLYS. The 40 was a very fast car, and used to pull the front wheels in all 4 gears. AWSOME!!

1965 Cecil County NHRA Record Meet. Gene Moody from Bloomfield, Indiana traveled all the way to Maryland and set the D/Gas Record at 11.90

Moody and his 1955 Chevy was the Class Champion at the NHRA NATIONALS in Indy in 1963-1964-1966-1967 and was the NHRA World Champion in Street Eliminator in 1965. The car was found in the Arizona desert and has been restored. It is currently owned by Peter Broadribb of Kingman, Arizona.

  23. Wondering if anyone here remembers a '37 Chevy coupe named "The Invader"? It ran out of Imperial Motors from Wilmington Delaware. It was owned and driven by Buck Hollingsworth. I have been trying to track down info on this car as there is a strong likelihood that the '37 coupe I have owned for 36 years could be this car.
Any help in determining this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob
