Got a Taylor plug wire kit with 90° boots and am unable to pull plug wire with plug connector back through the boot; the wire pulls out of the connector before it can make the 90° turn inside the boot. Have put silicone on the wire and in the boot but no success, any ideas? I don't have the instructions that would normally come with the kit.

You may not have a good crimp on the connectors. Plus, pushing the connector into the boot along with pulling the wire a little at a time will give better results.

Warming up the boot a little may help.

Yep. Bad crimp and probably no lube or not enough.

When I went though this I pulled the wire through the boot before I crimped the terminal end on. I tried a lot of stuff for lube and found d&l hand cleaner worked best for me.

Will try more lube, push pull method and see if I get better results. Thanks everyone.

If this is the plug end lube it up and just push it in from the wire side of the boot.

He's working on the distributer side. Most sets are made that way.

Well on that end I use some lube and push it in with a pocket screw driver.

Why didn't I think of that! It looked way too big to go in that opening but with more lube slid right in. Thank you

I put the boot on first then crimp the terminal end on.

Bend the 90 degree boot so it is almost straight - add dish soap- and you can push the wire and connector through without too much trouble. It will also help if you insert a chop stick (Chinese food type) inside the terminal end and push while keeping the rubber boot straight.
These are Taylor 8mm wires and boots.

I worked at Taylor cable co back in the 70s when I was going to trade school in KC.
Man I hated that job I worked in the trailer harness dep putting bullet connectors on wires. The machine held a belt of 2500 ends and I would go through 2 1/2 belts in 8 hours.

That and a little thought takes all the work out of it.

I have always used smooth hand cleaner as ***embly lube for spark plug wires.
Cut wire to length +3/4 inch extra..
    Do not strip insulation..
Apply Liberal amount on the wire itself..another liberal dose applied to the wire side of the boot..
Slide/push/pull UNSTRIPPED wire thru the boot..several inches past the end.
Wipe the end of the wire clean...strip the insulation..crimp the terminal...re-apply hand cleaner to the end of wire...
Pull boot down to cover terminal.
Remember to clean the wire before stripping and crimping...if you don't..you will regret it..lol...don't ask me how I know...take my word...

Also....for you detail oriented clean freaks. ( you know who you are ! )
Smooth hand cleaner will make your ugly spark plug wires look brand new !

    Just sayin..lol
