I need to take my full length headers off of my 59 ElCamino with a 427 and a 4 speed. Looking for ideas, what are you guys running. I found a set of Chevelle, and truck manifolds so far, and am starting to look into shorty headers. I am having ground and clutch linkage clearance issues with what I have.
Take a look at 66 corvette manifolds. They are tight against the block and are swept down and back. Very smooth flowing and acording to HP Books will net you 25 hp over the log style. I had a set from the wifes 66 427/425hp that I mocked up in my 28 chevy and they are keepers! You can buy them as repops from the corvette places either with or w/ air bosses.
a friend of mine used a set from a late 70s c30 454 truck , all he had to do was grind a little on the left side front to clear the front part of the control arm --also if i remember right he also took a little off of the edge of the control arm just to make sure it cleared. This was on a 59 biscayne ,when it all went together you could'nt tell anything had been done
