Wow, is that an IFS lifted like that? I assume the front crossmember was lowered? Hard to tell...

I met Doug this past year at the Goodguy's event in Springfield. Hell of a nice guy. And his Hilborn injected A Rdstr on Deuce rails is every bit as nice as the Hayseed was back in the day. Talking about the Corvette, if he only knew, he would have kept it just as it was. Amazing that he still owns the car today. Here are a couple more pics taken at NE Dragway .

Looks like 8 inch I-beams between the crossmember and frame.

They weren't always the snob appeal high dollar cars were told to believe now.
I walked past one that was on the street for years back in the early 70's on my way to my friends house. I told Dad I wanted it because it was only $100 and I just knew I could fix it. Heck, I'd built a lot of models. He told me it was junk and I didn't want it. He was wrong then, he is wrong now, but, that's the way it goes when youre 15.

BTW, that's a ukulele, took me a while to see it though.

No I don't have any info on it. Was taking pics of cars that were running in CM/SP class, the same as we were.

Very nice and that chevy truck in the background is also nice.

The passenger may have a hard ride just sitting on the seat frame.

What a great thread. I am sorry if I offend any Corvette Number Matching guys but in my opinion, this is the way a Vette should look. I had close friend (God Rest His Soul) once tell me: "If General Motors hadn't planned for the Corvette to be chopped up, they would have made it out something more substantial then fiberglass!"

From what I was told by Brendan Grassman many years ago, the car belonged to Reggie Nelson, otherwise known as "Root Beer", because that was the color of his Corvette. Both Brendan and Earl Wade are now gone, so there is no one that I know to ask to verify this.
    Bert Brown

I had some time over the holidays to pull out my old notes and I am embarrassed to say the above information is wrong. The "Root Beer" nickname applied to another Corvette racer by the name of Bob Holmes.
Reggie Nelson's car was maroon according to Grassman.
    Sorry for the misinformation.
    Bert

Bert good to see you posting. I thought of you the other day when I saw George Klass in another thread titled Re: Factory experimental (FX) and the myth, where he talks about the 62 Tempest driven by Hayden Proffitt at Pomona 62 Winternationals.

To some of you guys following this thread, Bert owns the 61 Vette that beat Proffitt at that race.

George may want to see you post in that thread in that your car competed. Also I am sure the guys following this thread would like to see a few pics of your historic racer. Take care-Jim
