Can't find it, bought the car and it has an aftermarket switch installed, but brake lights / signals don't work. Followed the wiring and all connects where it should, except one which has an original splice to what I ***ume is the brake light switch.. now I spent almost a hour under the car can't find the dang switch to plug it back in! What am I doing wrong here..

Is it pressure switch are a manual switch. If your having troubles with the signals also it could be in the turn signal switch. I see it's a pressure switch look at the master cylinder and along the brake line.

If I could just find a manual for this car life would be gravy, can't seem to find one from Chilton anywhere. I'll take a look thank you, suppose I should have known to look at the master cylinder.

The brake light switch is mounted at the master cylinder. Right where the brake line goes into it (at the front), there should be two studs on top of the switch.

You should have two wires there, one is power all the time to the switch, and the other is power when pressure is applied.

Signals have a relay mounted under the dash near the steering column. There's a round plug there also that has 5-7 pins (if I remember correctly, and a relay as well.)

You might check for power and connections there. Each circuit is fused also. There's a fuse panel under the dash and one under the hood on the drivers side of the firewall.

Another thing to check would be the grounds for the tail lamps.

I have wiring diagrams if you need them.

@325w - I've seen a few on E-Bay most are 40 bucks, would like to know what's in it is worth the dollars. Will be getting one eventually.

@pontiac - Def would like to have that, I bought some new 16g wire to replace any of the older, corroded ones. The initial problem is that there is an aftermarket signal lever installed, so I had to figure that one out. The hot wire, I imagine that is meant for the brake light switch is the one hanging loose, which comes off the signal itself. Will just have to figure this all out. Right after I pony up 200.00 for a new battery... 12v system conversion looking awfully tempting.
