This one fought me all the way! Built with pre-1958 parts and technology. 1928 cab, channeled 7 1/2in, duece shell sectioned 9in, visor and bed shortened, 1957 olds 371, bored to 394 with old Isky full race cam and custom Ross Racing pistons, Offenhauser manifold with J-2 carbs, old chrome exhaust, modified 53 olds slant pan hydramatic, old chrome 33 frontend, chrome 33 steering with an old vacuum cleaner tube for a column, 42 ford rear w/ chrome center section, spring n backing plates, old cal custom beanie caps on ford truck rims. Sparse interior with a square roll bar. Interior and firewall painted Walt Disney World purple, rest to be painted someday.
Yep LS GUNS, those are them, I mated them with some ford caps and made em fit. 2 weeks later I found some just like em except made to fit a ford for 10 bucks! And yes, the steering column is an old vacuum cleaner tube with a swamp cooler bearing to hold the shaft in place.
...Better late than never, You did a nice job on this sporty Hotrod D... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1928-hot-rod-ford-pickup.928258/
Cool. Man... when a guy builds a traditional vintage type hot rod, the (your) description sounds absolutely vintage, too. No wonder it fought you... channeled 7.5 in, 9 inch section... You managed to fit 10 lbs into an 8.5 lb bag.
A new Hamber wants to build a similar ride to his and is trying to contact him so perhaps that will bring on a revival of sorts...
Thanks Ron...I wonder what he's doing Hotrod wise these days? I will share your post in the other Thread as I'm not sure the poster saw this...
