After years of wanting one, I broke down and purchased a 64 stepside. The owner before me had it set up as a g***er, so it was already way high in the front, now I'm putting the 2008 p71 crown vic front end into it. I plan on using the 4.6 so I get the a/c, power steering, overdrive trans and better suspension. Right now I've got both a crown vic and a f100 completely diss***embled in my garage, so I need to get this done.
So here are my questions. The rear end of the truck was lowered and I am trying to figure out what would be the stock frame ride hieght for purposes of setting up crown vic clip "level" so the crossmember will sit level to the ground. I'm going to raise the rear of the truck at least some when I do the rear, but don't want to mess up the geometry of the front by raising the rear to much. Right now it only has about 1" of travel before it hits the bumpstops.

    My second question.
The top of the f100 frame rail where suspension bolts onto is set level right now, but the bottom of the rails are curved and that is where the crown vic suspension actually sits and supports the wieght. My question is do I have to cut out a section of the bottom fram rail and put some flat stock in there to make it parallel with the top of the rail?
I spent some time yesterday building a "jig" to hold the original suspension trailing arms in its correct locations so I can simplify the calculations putting it into the f100. But now I am stuck with whether or not to cut the bottom of frame to take the curve out of it, or should I just drill the holes straight and the crown vic crossmember will be strong enough?

I've never done the swap myself, but I was watching one of those TV shows a while back, and they did the CV to a Dodge pickup. The frame on it was as you describe, curved, and they put in some flat steel to level it out.

I was thinking of doing the swap on my 47 Lincoln. Still have a lot of measuring to do before I decide if it will work or not.

Although there are a few fellas on here that could probably help you out, putting out your questions on the Ford truck forum would get more results. I go there on occasion for my parts hauler. Good luck with your project.
