Good morning and Happy New Year to all. I'm wondering if anyone out there has a creative idea on sealing up the cowl/hood lacing holes in my current project. I'm considering welding little "blanks" on the inside of the cowl, as I don't really want to eliminate them entirely. I thought I could tack them to the inside of the cowl, seam seal from the inside and then put a good coat of POR on the outside. I think they add a lot of interest, but obviously don't want water to get inside the cowl. Any thoughts?
Why not just put the cowl lacing on, it will look right even if you are not running a hood. Maybe could seal the inside with some caulk if you were concerned with leakage.
Is there some sort of trim or molding you could put over the holes? Half round aluminum or some aluminum strip that can be bent around? Sealed with a rubber strip of weatherstripping on the back?
I seam sealed inside and put original looking cowl lacing on I like the looks of the lace even when not running a hood
You could use those snap in hole cover plugs you can get at the hardware store it the holes are large enough.
Thanks everyone!....great idea to put some seam sealer on the inside of the lacing! Best of both worlds. I love this place!
