I'm hoping the shifter will work in that position, it may need to go forward yet. I have heard the shifter's feel isn't as good from the middle location so Im going to try it there and hope I dont have to move it forward, its going to be close up to the bench seat though.

I talked to a guy at the World of Wheels show last month in Kansas City and he makes a shifter to move forward from your posinion another 2 or 3 inches for $280 a lot less than the close to $500 for TKO. So he says. He is a dealer for TKO and somehow involved with Tremec, if you want I'll find his business card so you can contact him, he in Texas I believe!

Got the rear end back in, I'm posting some pics for Murph (VintageAuto) of the CE rear Leaf set up. A couple notes for Murph. I chose to weld the brackets on rather than bolt them. The CE front hangers when bolted on wont work with the rear boxing plates as they need to bolt on to the upper lip of the frame rail. Rather than cut the upper part off since Im not bolting it to the rail, I will use it to mount a driveshaft hoop from. The CE stuff went on just as its supposed to the only things to note was the upper shock mounting brackets needed to be spaced forward about 3/16ths from the crossmember at the top when welded or I guess you could bend them forward a bit otherwise they tend to run uphill and not match up to the shock eyes very well. You will also need to clearance the lip on the crossmember a bit for the shock body and I had to for the 9" pumpkin to clear the lip of the crossmember too. I hope this helps you Murph.

  10. Hey Mike...Thanks, it does help. I've saved the pics and lightened them up a little. Setup looks great!

Very nice job--looks like you got a great 40. On every CE rear kit I have installed, the rear wheels are off in the wheel well about 3/8 to 1/2 inch to start toward the rear. You are making great progress.

Looks good to me. Nice and clean work. It is hard to beat a 40 Ford for a great road car.

I missed this when you posted it Rusty, I saw it at Joplin and was really digging it. I know you had to thrash to get it back together in time to make the drags. Hope mine turns out as nice.

I have kind of taken the last couple months off from working on it much. I have made some progress though. The bottom end is done on the motor and I should be finishing it altogether in the next couple weeks hopefully. I also took the body to Jay (Da Tin Man) to have him work a little magic on the bad spots in the floor and where the "A" pillars meet the floor that had a little rot in them. He did an awesome job. Now I have a few odds and ends to do on the body then its going to my buddy Brad's place for paint and body work while I focus on the mechanicals.

BTW these front pans are Full length Bradley pans cut up to use just what was needed to repair the bad areas. I ordered short front pans from Bradleys in February, I still haven't received them. I asked for a refund in June still haven received that either. The pans are nice but if I knew it would take who knows how long to get them. I would have done something different. Luckily a HAMB'er Bill Nabors had an extra set he sold me. I just had to drive 600 miles one way to pick them up. Other wise I guess I'd still be waiting for my pans from Bradley.

The patch work really came out nice. Lots of welding to do it this way. I had the Bradley Pans for many years and finally put in the complete Drake pans which was also a lot of work. The car should be a real nice ride when finished.

I have been able to get some progress done recently. The motor is all but finished a few little things yet, Distributor, Carburetor, Flywheel, Starter, water pump ETC. It's not very period correct with the aluminum heads, but should make some pretty good power and be street friendly still. I still need to figure out the breather/PVC system though.

I also got the floors painted with POR15. Got the firewall set up for the swinging Brake/Clutch pedals and sent the body off to my buddy Brad for him to do the bodywork and Paint.

Well I bought them from a fellow Hamb'er Bill N. He had an extra set lying around. They originally came from Paul Bradley in N.C. (Bradley Floor Pans). I'm still waiting for the ones I ordered and paid for from Bradleys' about 10 months ago.
