Anyone have an dealings with them? Their rates are good, I'm thinking of getting a policy. Any recommendations for other insurance companies?

  2. Have a friend that uses them on British cars and has had great service from them. He was hit twice by stupid SO CA. drivers not paying attention. I use Grundy, and their rates are cheaper than Hagerty. Fortunately I haven't had to use them, but I've never heard anything bad from the ones that did.

Check out 'Chrome' classic car ins. Great rates and not restrictive on how much you can drive. Chrome is the classic car division of 'ANPAC', an old insurance co. out of Missouri.

I have used Hagerty for many years. Have had a couple of claims. They handled quickly and fairly.:D

  6. I think they are OK, from what some others say.

I've had Hagerty for several years. Never any claims personally so I can't speak to that end of it, but I have a buddy who runs a resto shop and he spent a year doing a '59 Corvette and the customer got t-boned on the way home from the shop. Hagerty was very responsive and paid to have the car repaired with no issues. They even went to great pains to source NOS and genuine used parts where possible to make it right.

I have been very happy with them. They will insure as many cars as you have garage space.... projects, driver's or show cars. Agreed value is usually not a problem (unless you have something really out of the ordinary). Also, their roadside assistance is expensive and not for everyone, but I have it (and have had to use it).

They seem to be car people or at least their business model is to try to be.

Several car collector buddies also use them with no problems.

A couple of things to consider:
They want insured cars in a garage.
Photos, VINS, and all the usual stuff
    There are mileage restrictions
Might not be available in a 50 States (for some reason I think this)
They have underwriters (someone else insures you THROUGH them).

Not 100% on that last one, but that's what I was told.

Otherwise.... 100% happy. Not the cheapest. But then again, the average person where I live pays $1500-$2k + a year to insure 2 LATE MODEL cars full coverage!!!!!!!

For their service.... the rates are fine with me.

I used them while my 36 Chevy was still in the project stage but had too much invested to risk losing it to shop fire etc. My homeowners Ins. wouldn't cover full value of non-operable car. Hagerty and I agreed on a value unfinished and I upped it a couple of times over about 4 years as more value was added. Of course they wanted photos and copies of receipts for some higher cost items. Given how easy it is to have an accidental fire in the shop or storm damage like large 100 ft. fir trees crashing down in the wind, it made sense to insure the unfinished car

When it came time to put it on the road I checked with my regular insurer State Farm who was then willing to cover it as a registered, operating vehicle. SF was less expensive than any of the Specialty Insurers -- go figure. I had to get a professional appraisal which cost $$ but was worth it in the long run.

Now my 47 Olds convertible unfinished project has enough invested to make it worth going through the same routine again.

I used them once for minor repairs. I got a repair quote from a regular collision place (well established and also a car guy) and everything was fully covered no questions asked. I use Grundy now, much cheaper but I expect the same treatment based on several friend's reports. Gary

I have two current cars with them. I have had no problems as yet and they always give me the customer service I need. I have raised the insurance level on my 39 three times as the build comes closer to being finished without any problems. Their rates seem to be very reasonable too.

  13. Insuring project or storage cars is something everyone should consider.

I have had Hagerty, now with Grundy. Cant remember exactly why, believe second car was cheaper with Grundy.

On a trip to South Dakota in our hotrods one friend hit a deer. Totaled his 37. He had Hagerty and within two weeks he had the money in his pocket. Said it was a great experience with the adjuster.

I use Hagerty, but can't personally say how they respond to a claim, as I've never had one. I do like the multiple car discount they have, as my 2nd collector car is half price. Have a friend who has them, and got his car totaled by some stupid uninsured woman who didn't notice he was stopped at a red light. They paid off very fast, with no question.

  18. ...I also have Grundy as their rates were almost half of what Hagerty wanted...but it seems that Grundy rates are cheaper for 30's cars...but not so much for 50's or 60's cars...dunno why...

Rates would seem to vary, depending upon the state you're "garaged" in.
Look carefully at any mileage restriction, as well as when "used". IE Kiwanis Parades are OK, but you're not covered if driving to work. You'll want to have an appraisal, to back your value amount.

I have it and love it. I am running a historical plate and it is costing about 300 a year due to the modifications. They charge a little more because of he scallops and non stock motor. I get unlimted free towing within 50 miles of my house. Cover up to 15000.

August 1, 2013 my shop burned down. I had 2 cars insured with Hagerty. Only one was in the shop a 69' Chevelle SS It was insured for $15,000.00

They sent an adjuster out to look at the car, it was a total loss. He took lots of pics and sent a report to Hagerty. They called me and I had to give an official recorded statement as to what had happened.
They asked if I wanted to buy back the remains for $550.00 I bought it thinking I could salvage the 12 bolt, muncie and 375hp 396. The 12 bolt was junk, the tranny and 396 appear to be useable. They paid off the policy with no problems.

When I bought our 35' Dodge after the fire I called them to see if they would cover it, they said sure no problem. Hagerty has done a great job for me. I wish I had insurance on the other 2 cars that burned. Plus I have about 20k in putting up a new shop.

WOOPS.. That is a pic of our 68' Chevelle hard to tell them apart when they look so crispy

  24. Had Hagerty way back when but my agent switched me to Grundy with my approval advising they were less expensive for the same coverage. I have 3 cars with them now but no claim experience.

I had Hagerty for years, had a claim they paid it within a week, a very good experience. After I stated purchasing/Insuring more cars I could not see paying higher rates. I now have Grundy, don't think there customer service is as strong but most of there rates where 50% of Hagerty. One thing I did find out with Grundy and Hagerty, make sure to ask about different value thresholds, I raised the agreed value on a few cars and it saved me money? This is also based on which state you live in as well.

I just bought Hagerty Insurance for my recently purchased '37 Chevy Coupe, I bought theirs due to past knowledge of them being a good insurer. I sent in the application in from the web along with pictures and description, underwriter contacted me, and that easy I had Insurance, printed the Insurance certificate. Easiest Insurance policy I've ever purchased.

Hagerty is good. Though I have had Grundy for years and they have been excellent also.
