I found this very interesting carb set-up on a couple of early Olds motors, what is it? Do they still make them? Thanks!

Those are original Rochester type AA downdraft carbs, used by Oldsmobile.

The designation updraft, sidedraft, or downdraft refers to the direction the air/fuel mixture is traveling when it leaves the carburetor into the intake manifold, not where the air enters the carburetor.

Tag (identification) number 7001570 would have been used on 1949.

Tag (identification) number 7002570 would have been used on 1950.

The very nicest thing that can be said about these carbs is they were discontinued after two years.

There are many other less nice things that may be said about them!

However, that is a very nice looking setup!

    Jon.
