I have removed the Buddy Holly airplane crash photos from the main post as
some seemed to be a little sensitive to viewing them.

There are no close-ups showing injuries and after all, it was almost 60 years
    ago and it is history.

The music never dies. If it is remembered by someone, played by someone, or recorded somewhere, it lives.

A little OT but while we're talking about music, I want to share that today I'm playing unusual gig. In the 1970s there was a sax player and a ****tail waitress who met and fell in love. They were the loves of each others lives. He died in 1985. Today, she is being laid to eternal rest next to him. As part of the celebration of her life, I will be at her graveside "playing her home". A sax player and his girl, reunited. I am so touched and honored to be able to do this.

I miss Ritchie as well. He was only 17. I used to listen to the Big Bopper on the radio. I may have had him on tape as I used to tape songs off the radio. The recorder got stolen.

I remember when that crash happened. It was big news and my parents and cl***mates were all talking about it.
Those guys songs were on the radio and our record player at home all the time. I liked Buddy's songs and Big Boppers "Chantilly Lace", but the Ritchie Valens songs were (and still are), my favorites.

It's just a darn shame they had to die so young, and all at the same time .... really, really sad. :(

Well, I wonder whatever happened to the cars these guys drove? That would steer the thread on topic.

If you ever have a chance go by the crash site outside Clear Lake, IA. It's VERY moving...However..it's about 1/4 mile (or more) from the main road...but worth the walk...even if it's 10 degrees, 1ft of snow...and 6:50 pm...

This might have something to do with old cars, and Buddy Holly.

And rock and roll has plenty to do with traditional hot rods. Have a look at what Jeff Beck, Neil Young, and Brian Setzer drive....

That's a pretty cool video. It seems someone would have restored that 58 Impala by now, considering it's famous former owner. Kind of a shame it sits in a junkyard. Maybe if it had been a 57 Impala ... ??
